Balotesti

Balotești is a commune in Ilfov County, Muntenia, Romania, consisting of the villages of Balotești (residence), Dumbrăveni and Săftica. The seat of the commune is the village of Balotești, although the town hall is based in Săftica.
The commune is located in the northern area of the county, on the banks of the Cociovaliștea river: the localities are mainly on the right bank of this river, and the commune has uninhabited territory up to the right bank of its emissary, the Vlăsia river, which flows in the northern area.

It is crossed by the DN1 national road, which connects Bucharest to Ploiești. In the village of Balotești, this road intersects with the county road DJ101, which leads west to Corbeanca and Buftea (where it ends in DN1A), and east to Moara Vlăsiei, Grădiștea, and further into Ialomița county to Fierbinți-Târg and Jilavele (where it ends in DN1D. County road DJ200B starts from DN1 at Săftica, intersects with DJ101 at Balotești and leads south to Tunari, Voluntari and Bucharest (Pipera area).

The Bucharest-Urziceni railway also passes near the commune, which is served by the Balotești train station.
